"Some of the Best"
John Henry Newman
"By the bye, give Mr. Whitty some
instructions about how to read my sermons—which he asks
about. I mean, which he is to read etc. I should like him to
read some of the best first to interest him in them; and they, as well
as any, or better, would suggest whether the Sermons could be made use
of, which is what he wants to know. E.g. the first and 2nd of volume
4, etc. Sermon 14, 16, 20 of volume 4.
Sermon 3, 5,
6, 23, of volume 5
Sermon 17,
18, 22, 25 of volume 6"
From letter to Ambrose St. John, Jan. 26, 1846.
